Sacred to the memory of Jane, the daughter of Thomas and Jane Scotchburn of Great Driffield, who was born the 12th May 1819 and died the 6th October 1821. Ere sin could blight or sorrow fade, death came with friendly care. The opening bud to heaven convey'd and bade it blossom there. Also Thomas Scotchburn, solicitor who departed this life Octr 28th 1837, aged 45 years. Also Jane Scotchburn, widow of the above and daughter of the late John Harrison, Gent of Drewton Manor, who died at Driffield, April 4th 1879, in the 80th year of her age. Not gone from memory, not gone from love but gone to her father's home above. William John Scotchburn, died an infant the 25th September 1823. Is thine an early doom, cradled in death thy sweets are shed, as first fruits to the tomb. Charles John Scotchburn, was born on the 2nd December 1824 and departed this life on the 13th June 1825. Why should we mourn the closing flower, which seems to shun the nightly hour. It opens to that one whose power can never set. Close by lie buried the mortal remains of Harrison, son of Alfred & Mary Elizabeth Scotchburn, who was born the 11th and died the 19th of January 1858. Hinc ill aelanchrymae.
