Backup! Backup! Backup!
Here is a sad tale. A friend of mine recently asked for my help. A relative of his, a teacher, inadvertently damaged his portable hard drive which contained his pupils course work and, you can guess, he had not backed up the data. The damage was even beyond my repair capabilities.
I backup my PC monthly and other data at shorter intervals using Clonezilla. I've used it for years and have restored my OS and data several times with no problems. It works on both Windows and linux operating systems.
I used to be self employed and I had all my accounts and customer details on my PC. I have had a few PC failures over the years but my backups soon had me back in action. Nowadays I wonder how many people with their all singing and dancing i-phones containing family photos etc backup? Not that many, I suspect.
